Pushkar

Pushkar is a town in the Ajmer district in the Indian state of Rajasthan. It is situated 14 km northwest of Ajmer at an average elevation of 510 m and is one of the five sacred dhams for devout Hindus.

Pushkar is considered to be a sacred town for the Hindus. Situated about 11 km northwest of Ajmer, this town has its name even in the Epics and also in Kalidasa's Sakuntalam. Being a pilgrimage for the Hindus the major Pushkar tourist attractions are the Pushkar Lake and the 400 temples that are scattered around the town

Pushkar Fair:- 

Held each November at the time of the Kartik Purnima full moon, Pushkar Camel Fair is one of India’s most highly-rated travel experiences, a spectacle on an epic scale, attracting more than 11,000 camels, horses and cattle and visited by over 400,000 people over a period of around fourteen days.

For visitors it’s a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to witness the colour, spectacle and carnival of one of the last great traditional melas, which brings livestock, farmers, traders and villagers from all over Rajasthan. We believe that every aspect of such an experience should be special.

Pushkar Lake, Brahma Ghat:-

 Pushkar Lake is a well known all around the world for being close to the one few temples of Shri Brahma Ji. This was a place where Lord Brahma (the creator of this world) prayed with Mata Savitri.

Mostly travellers from all over India say that Pushkar is a temple or a statue, but it is a town in the Ajmer district of Rajasthan. There is a holy lake in Pushkar which is similar to the River Ganga which was believed that it was formed by the tears of Lord Shiva which was shed after the death of his wife, Sati. With its holy lake and numerous Ghats and Temples, Pushkar is one of the most sacred Hindu towns in India. Legend associates Lord Brahma with its creation and this is the most famous Brahma temple.

In Pushkar, Pushp means “flower” (blue lotus flower) and Kar means “Hands”. Everybody drops flower in the lake and wishes for their luck. These two words combine to form Pushkar, which is considered sacred. A word which we use every second: GOD, GOD is an acronym for Generator, Operator and Destroyer. In all these words Operator is meant to be for protection by Lord Vishnu that is supposed to be in Bodh Gaya. Destroyer word comes from Kashi Varanasi that is dedicated to Lord Shiva. There are more than 1000 temples in Pushkar.

Brahma Mandir:-

is a Hindu temple situated at Pushkar in the Indian state of Rajasthan, close to the sacred Pushkar Lake to which its legend has an indelible link. The temple is one of very few existing temples dedicated to the Hindu creator-god Brahma in India and remains the most prominent among them.

 

Although the present temple structure dates to the 14th century, the temple is believed to be 2000 years old. The temple is mainly built of marble and stone stabs. It has a distinct red pinnacle (shikhara) and a hamsa bird motif. The temple sanctum sanctorum holds the central images of Brahma and his second consort Gayatri.
